Synopsis:

The subject matter calls for a new system of reasoning to engage higher mental faculties that our current binary system is able to do using natural language. This reference is perfect as a start for this new series.

It expands on this with a description of what this unconscious thing looks like by giving us Jung’s explanation of the I-Ching, which is the greatest oracle of all time. Jung wrote that we need a method of enquiry with as few conditions as possible to force Nature to give us an answer that we can interpret with our intuition.

The internal characteristic rounds this off by linking this dowsing method to the interplay of Yin and Yang to the peace in Tao. Treating the unconscious as an equal partner will bring peace, and so will restoring the balance between the two brain hemispheres through whole-brain thinking.

The synthesis of these two to three to four is quite obvious insofar as it relates to this method as an oracle that speaks out from books. It forces one to think of the learning potential in being able to access this massive knowledge base under the direction of a higher aspect of Self that supports personal growth.

To test this we need to look at what s4 introduces as the core issue to be raised here. It refers us to the creative thinking process that has stages of incubation and illumination, which is when we upload the problem into the unconscious and then wait to download the answer when ready. Another way of stating this is when we wait on the right-brain hemisphere to finish processing the problem and to relay the answer back to consciousness under mysterious circumstances. The core issue here is that this process is hardly ever acknowledged, even at creativity conferences, because of a fear of the unconscious. This fear is stems from a prejudice against right-brain thinking that has been around for thousands of years, which the majority of people are not aware of. One must first become aware of this prejudice.

As a consequence (of s1-4) we get directed to Pierre de Chardin’s notion of the Noosphere as the collective consciousness of our planet that contains ‘super-vision and super-ideas’. It makes us aware of the fact that others have already given this collective database a name, and it is not the internet. This is about becoming aware of a parallel Net, a mental one, a supermind.

In s6 we get a look at our responsibility, which is to liberate ourselves from the conditioning that prevents us from seeing the truth of our interconnectedness and the true realization of this natural state.

The sad reality of the current paradigm is that the Literalists will continue hold sway over the masses (s7) as the probable outcome. To change this we need a breakthrough in how we communicate with the unconscious Mind.

The download offers a way to overcome the conditioning (in s8) and the attitude (in s9) to adopt to help bring this all about. Our belief systems reflect a conditioning that separates us from our pagan nature so it is fitting that we are advised to adopt a Dionysian attitude.

This leads us to the right action one should take, and here in s10 we get told that helping "typically involves learning, as in unlearning, relearning, new learning.

In terms of just how much helping is required we get insight in the paradox of modern life from Marx. There is a balance to strive for.

This is supported by the objective for taking this action, which is to develop the faculty of reason to arrive at objectivity. Fromm believed that if one's capacity for reason is restricted or damaged, its use in all other sectors will create illusionary perceptions.

In s13 the final outcome is about realizing one’s personal destiny. This fits with the ancient teachings that we are wiped clean of any knowledge of our destiny at birth. It is only by working with the unconscious mind that one can actively participate in following this path.

This download introduces a new method with which to engage one’s unconscious in a more transparent and meaningful way. It opens us up to Self-directed knowledge.

[01] Dualism

Subject s[01] is DUALISM: This is great start for using a pendulum. It suggests that the download will deal with the limitations of language and how this dowsing method offers raises unconscious knowledge.

Charles Hoy Fort … he is attacking the mental structure of civilized man. He is completely out of sympathy with the two-stroke motor which is the driving power of modern reasoning. Two strokes: Yes and No, Positive and Negative, Modern knowledge and modern intelligence are based on this binary system …

Where Fort is opposed to Descartes is in his insistence that we should envisage the general from an angle which would allow the particular to be defined in its relation thereto, in such a way that every object or thing would be seen as intermediaries between other things.

What he demands is a new mental structure, capable of recognizing as real the intermediate states between the yes and the no … In other words, a system of reasoning which is higher than binary and would be, as it were , a third eye for the intelligence. To express what this third eye perceives, language (which is a binary product, an organized conspiracy and limitation) is not sufficient.

[02] I Ching

The external characteristics is to be found in the symbol s[02] I CHING, which introduces the Chinese way of thinking to the problem raised in the subject s[01]:

The exact method of divining is explained … Jung's description of this process is reprinted here (Jung and Pauli,1955) … The I Ching, which we can well call the experimental basis of classical Chinese philosophy, is one of the oldest known methods for grasping a situation as a whole and thus placing the details against a cosmic background - the interplay of Yin and Yang. This grasping of the whole is obviously the aim of science as well, but it is a goal that necessarily lies very far off because science, whenever possible proceeds experimentally and in all cases statistically …

The workings of nature in her unrestricted wholeness are completely excluded. If we want to know what these workings are, we need a method of enquiry which imposes the fewest possible conditions, or if possible no conditions at all, and then leaves Nature to answer out of her fullness. …

Chinese sages … supposed that the same living reality was expressing itself in the psychic state as in the physical. But in order to verify such a hypothesis, some limiting condition was needed in this apparently limitless experiment, namely a definite form of physical procedure, a method or technique which forced Nature to answer in even and odd numbers … this naturally presupposes an intuitive knowledge of the meaning of each oracle figure …

The interpretations formulate the inner unconscious knowledge that corresponds to the state of unconsciousness at the moment, and this psychological situation coincides with the chance result of the method …

[03] Peace

Symbol s[03] is PEACE: it may refer to the dualistic relationship between the two brain hemispheres that is also male:female and how harmony is restored when communication respects the unconscious (read as also mute right brain) as an equal partner.

[02+03] Synthesis – Language

The SYNTHESIS s[2+3] relates to the limitations of language that must be addressed if we are to learn a language of symbols that can allow us to interpret unconscious knowledge. It relates to the harmony of thought generated by whole-brain thinking - Peace of Mind.

[04] Illumination

For the Core Issue in s[04] we are given the symbol ILLUMINATION. This stage of the creative process depends largely on invoking a meditative state of mind to receive this type of thought.

The Creative Process. All creativity means is the use of the imagination to produce some new thing … What makes high creativity so elusive is that, in general, we do not know how to evoke the state of mind in which we can easily make new, unique, and useful associations between ideas … creative expression is a process. Inspirations … in a flash of illumination …

Herman Helmholtz first described the stages … saturation, incubation, and illumination… Incubation begins when a problem solver gives up actively trying to solve the problem, handing it over to the realm of the unconscious … will then give birth to illumination …

Elmer and Alyce Green, biofeedback researchers … The entrance, or key, to all these inner processes [is] a particular state of consciousness in which the gap between conscious and unconscious processes is voluntarily narrowed, and temporarily eliminated when useful. When that self-regulated reverie is established, the body can apparently be programmed at will, and the instructions given will be carried out, emotional state can be dispassionately examined, accepted or rejected, or totally supplanted by others deemed more useful, and problems insoluble to the normal state of consciousness can be elegantly resolved.

[05] Noosphere

As a consequence s[05] we get the symbol NOOSPHERE. Teilhard stated that our biological evolution is giving rise to special forces that are a psychic phenomenon of hominisation; that this has created a dimension of 'thinking substance' that he called the Noosphere. This fits perfectly with the goal of Mx, which is to tap into this collective Brain.

The Formation of the Noosphere: c) The cerebral apparatus. Between the human brain, with its milliards of inter-connected nerve cells, and the apparatus of social thought, with its millions of individuals thinking collectively, there is an evident kinship … On the one hand we have a single brain, formed of nervous nuclei, and on the other a Brain of brains … the 'cerebroid' organ of the Noosphere … a synthesis … a vault above our heads, a sphere of mutually reinforced consciousness, the seat, support and instrument of super-vision and super-ideas … it is on a higher level than the individual that everything achieves its fulfillment.

[06] Liberation

The responsibility in s[06] is to free oneself from the causes of suffering, and to work at understanding life from an awakened perspective using the unconscious knowledge that rises into awareness.

Liberation: Jamgon Kontrul: " … The cause for liberation is unconditioned insight, the true realization of the natural state that is free of ego-clinging, which has the capacity to eliminate all negative emotional states. The cause of this true insight is one pointed samadhi … the cause of samadhi, which is the utterly pure discipline of renunciation. Thus, right now, in order to free myself from samsara, I will stick to the discipline, train in samadhi, and generate true insight in the sense of understanding the meaning of impermanence, suffering, emptiness and egolessness." …

In other words, we want to be free of samsara, of all samsaric states, the causes of which are the three poisons of ignorance, attachment and aggression.

[07] Literalists

The probable outcome s[07] is that humankind will continue down the bloody path that LITERALISTS have carved out over the centuries unless we start to push back against intolerant religions and try to reclaim what was lost. To do this we need a breakthrough in how we communicate with the unconscious Mind.

The Destruction of Gnosticism: In response to the continuing popularity of Gnosticism the Roman Church set out to unify Christianity by force … In 381 Theodosius finally made heresy a crime against the state. Gnostics writings were condemned as a 'hotbed of manifold perversity" which 'should not only be forbidden, but entirely destroyed and burned with fire'. All philosophical debate was entirely suppressed …

Inherent Intolerance: Although modern Christianity is made up of countless diverse sects with opposing approaches … are fundamentally shaped by the triumph of Literalism in the fourth century …

The wanton destruction of our Pagan heritage is the greatest tragedy in the history of the Western world. The scale of what was lost is hard to comprehend. Pagan mysticism and scientific enquiry were replaced by dogmatic authoritarianism. [08] Crystal

The conditioning in s[8] relates to CRYSTAL and brings up an interesting problem that the collective unconscious which controls human behaviour, remains unchanged by civilization. The conditioning that I believe we need to overcome involves changing that which we can, the belief systems that prevent us from allowing for our pagan nature.

The crystal is a fascinating phenomenon in physical nature. Its structure, like that of an archetype, is transcendental, a noumenon: the eternally existing pattern of any class of things, of which the individual things in that class are imperfect copies, and from which they derive their existence. In the same way that the structure of a crystal can be imagined and derived from an actual crystal, the psychology of an archetype can be derived from psychic utterances llike dreams and visions …

[09] Dionysus

The attitude in s[09] is that of DIONYSUS, which supports the preceding point in offering a fresh perspective on Nietzsche's work.

What I Owe to the Ancients … the still rich and even overflowing Hellenic instinct, that wonderful phenomenon which bears the name of Dionysus: … For it is only in the Dionysian mysteries, in the psychology of the Dionysian state, that the basic fact of the Hellenic instinct finds expression—its “will to life.” …

I know no higher symbolism than this Greek symbolism of the Dionysian festivals. Here the most profound instinct of life, that directed toward the future of life, the eternity of life, is experienced religiously—and the way to life, procreation, as the holy way. It was Christianity, with its ressentiment against life at the bottom of its heart, which first made something unclean of sexuality: it threw filth on the origin, on the presupposition of our life …

[10] Helping

When faced with overcoming conditioning and the right attitude to adopt, it is fitting that we get HELPING as the right-action to take in s[10]:

Helping as an Education Process: Another way of looking at the goal of helping is client learning. As Strupp (1986) puts it, helping "typically involves learning (unlearning, relearning, new learning), which may take many different forms …

The outcomes may manifest themselves as changes in cognitions, feeling, or behaviour (or some combination of these)" (p. 124).

Helping is thus an education process whose goal is learning. An excellent definition of learning is this: Learning takes place when options are increased. If the collaboration between helpers and clients is successful, clients learn in very practical ways. They have more "degrees of freedom" in their lives as they open up options and take advantage of them. … Every helping interview can be seen as an opportunity to help clients develop more options in their lives.

A poet once described the lot of people to be "cabined, cribbed, and confined."

At its best, helping enables clients to learn to open doors, to throw off chains, to stretch.

[11] Development

For the quantity and quality aspects in position s[11] we get DEVELOPMENT. Note the references to archetypes and Dionysus as covered in s[8 & 9], and the paradox.

Marcuse's criticism of Marx … where Marx's favorite is attacked … : Prometheus is the culture-hero of toil, productivity, and progress through repression … the trickster and (suffering) rebel against the gods, who creates culture at the price of perpetual pain. He symbolizes productiveness, the unceasing effort to master life. … Prometheus is the archetypal hero of the performance principle.

Marcuse proceeds to nominate alternate mythological figures, whom he considers more worthy of idealization: Orpheus, Narcissus, and Dionysus … [They] stand for a very different reality. … Theirs is the image of joy and fulfillment, the voice that does not command but sings, the deed which is peace and ends the labor of conquest …

If Marx is fetishistic about anything, it is not work and production but rather the far more complex and comprehensive ideal of development - "the free development of physical and spiritual energies" (1844 manuscripts); "development of a totality of capacities in the individuals themselves" (German Ideology); … "the universality of individual needs, capacities, pleasures, productive forces, etc." (Grundrisse); "the fully developed individual" (Capital). … Marx wants to embrace Prometheus and Orpheus …

[12] Reason

In s[12] we get insight into the desired objective for the right-action, which is to develop the human faculty of REASON. There is an important distinction between reasoning and intelligence that fits brilliantly with the rest.

But even if man's frame of orientation is utterly illusory, it satisfies his need for some picture which is meaningful to him … the picture of the world which he has depends on the development of his reason and of his knowledge … it takes a long evolutionary process to arrive at objectivity … Reason is man's faculty for grasping the world by thought, in contradiction to intelligence, which is man's ability to manipulate the world with the help of thought. Reason is man's instrument for arriving at the truth, intelligence is man's instrument for manipulating the world successfully; the former is essentially human, the latter belongs to the animal part of man. Reason is a faculty which must be practiced, in order to develop, and it is indivisible … If one lives in illusions about one sector of life, one's capacity for reason is restricted or damaged, and thus the use of reason is inhibited with regard to all other sectors. [13] Balance

The symbol for the final outcome s[13] is BALANCE, which relates perfectly to the download as a whole. I think this reads well for a first attempt using the pendulum, I'm happy :)

Finding balance is key to the success of any karmic journey. Grappling with the challenges of life often means that we have to reconcile conflicting energies. Each of the karmic paths seems to require finding the middle between two concepts that often appear to be unrelated or mutually exclusive. Resolving this paradox is part of the journey … Working with a paradox causes one to move outside the framework of ordinary perceptions or notions of logic and can bring the student to new levels of awareness …

It is important to develop the objectivity to gather the fruits of the lessons as you encounter them. Otherwise life may seem meaningless or, worse, hopeless.

Synopsis:

This download refers to Socrates' dialectical method, but for questioning the genius within, which is what he was doing in a round about way by submitting to a higher source. The problem with asking questions is that it activates a transformative power that will challenge one’s beliefs. Linked to this is an unconscious ability to read emotional expressions that must be raised in a synthesis to something like the Philosopher’s Stone that one can use to navigate the change process. The link with emotions has to do with overcoming one’s own fears and also those of others.

The core issue suggests that Atlantis is another name for the universal Mind we seek, and that automatic writing will help get the answers. The problem with this method is that one can produce thousands of pages of nonsense, so it needs to be improved on to enable one to tap into the collective database of knowledge for specific references and answers.

The consequence of inviting change introduces a state of ambivalence in which one must learn to accept the coexistence of opposing attitudes and feelings that challenges one’s commitment. The responsibility one then has is to learn to listen for the subtle clues in the answers we receive that can help with navigating the Path. The probable outcome is being left with the question of what the ‘right action’ is at any given step on the path, and of how to solve this.

The conditioning to overcome suggests the use of quartz crystal (pendulum) to communicate with inner guides or heart mind etc. The right attitude supports the view that there are natural energy channels in our body that one must use to stay healthy.

The right action to take is to stimulate and train one’s imagination using mixed metaphors, which is to engage right-brain thinking, using language to raise consciousness. The quantity and/or quality aspect of the right action is a problem of where lines are to be drawn. The answer one gets from the other side is a clue that depends on the reason for the transfer of knowledge which in hindsight may appear as wisdom. The objective of any right action relates to it having deeper significance, linking dreaming to day dreams, to visualization, to right brain thinking, that should be supported into the waking state. There is a new state of consciousness to explore here.

The final outcome suggests developing an effective Q&A system using the pendulum.

The subject is Socrates' method of DIALECTICS. Where it refers to ‘others’ we should include the internal guides etc.

By the middle of the fifth century BCE the Sophist was the popular image of a philosopher … I'm sure it was important for him to distance himself from the Sophists and to maintain his own image and independence … Sophists only talked for money … Socrates' method of question and answer [see s13], the dialectical method, may have even developed as a response … setting up a method in which he wants only to ask questions of others, not to answer them himself … had no need to act like the other wise men.

The external characteristic is an attitude change in one's faith that can be attributed to the divine energy.

The internal characteristic to look for relates to the unconscious reading of body language.

[2+3] Synthesis

This refers to a philosophical technique found in alchemy that one can use to navigate the changing attitude during the transformation process. And, just as Jung developed Active Imagination, so we need to continue to improve these methods of inquiry. This download suggests to me that I need to work on developing a system that will allow a person to use a pendulum to find answers in a library.

[04] Atlantis

The symbol ATLANTIS as the core issue is a metaphor for the higher state of consciousness.

Did Atlantis really exist on earth? Does Atlantis exist already as a state of awareness [see s12] slightly more advanced than any now on earth, but on a higher vibratory, yet earthlike level? If so, is Atlantis yet to come to earth? Is man seeking Atlantis in the wrong direction, by looking into the past rather than into the future? … Atlantis could, itself, be another name for Mind. Is man matter or mind, or both? If man is a dweller on two plane(t)s, how long must he remain so, and how can he best live with his own duality? Automatic writing will help you gain many answers.

[05] Neuroses

As a consequence one needs to be aware of the creative ways in which the mind works with neuroses.

Let us turn to the obsessional neuroses in the hope of learning more about the formation of symptoms … fall into two groups, each having an opposite trend. They are either prohibitions … negative in character … or … substitute satisfactions which often appear in symbolic disguise … The symptom-formation scores a triumph if it succeeds in combining the prohibition with satisfaction so that what was originally a defensive command or prohibition acquires the significance of a satisfaction as well; and in order to achieve this end it will often make use of the most ingenious associative paths. [06] Answers

It is one's responsibility to learn to respond to the subtle clues from higher consciousness:

[07] Indifference

For the probable outcome we get the symbol INDIFFERENCE. Note how the paragraph ends with a question on how best to act.

One can draw so-called indifference curves, i.e. lines joining the points in the coordinate system representing alternatives to which the person in question is indifferent. Given certain assumptions about preferences, these curves are always convex with respect to the origin; and a part of the person's preference system is that, of all the curves he might possibly find himself on, he prefers that which is furthest from the origin. The question now is how a reasonable or rational person who wants to maximize his well-being or utility should behave in this situation.

[08] Crystal

The conditioning one needs to overcome in is given in the symbol CRYSTAL. Note the reference to communicating with angels, and the energy fields that shape our actions.

This state is for some a virtual reality where simulations are run; and is also a state that includes day-dreaming or 'active imagination' as coined by Jung. This also makes one aware of another fundamental relationship: that of the self and the Self; of the ego and the daimon.

The basis s[04] for this download relates to the ROSE-CROSS: This confirms the soul as trapped in the material world as represented by the four elements (arms) of a cross. I take this to mean that one needs to get more actively engaged with nature instead of watching on TV or ignoring it as we go about our daily business. Yes, nature is dead to most people who litter, pollute and exploit. But to try explaining why they behave this way will raise issues such as the projection of the unconscious 'mood'.

The mysterious mother has shrouded herself from us in an impenetrable veil of illusion. But though we cannot know nature absolutely we can pick up a practical and piecemeal knowledge of nature not by dreaming but by doing. The following symbol ANXIETY s[7] in the position of outcome is really very interesting because it relates to what attracted me to the BodyTalk system a few years ago. I grew up believing that I had an anxiety disorder brought on by a traumatic birth, but this came up under BodyTalk as caused by reaction to my father's consciousness while I was still in the womb during the second trimester. Whatever it was it stressed me out to the point that I literally tried to hang myself with my umbilical cord; BodyTalk linked this event to my father's death (to the exact date), and the effect was instantaneous: a massive release that brought my anxiety down.

Death of the godman: Jesus is generally believed to have been crucified on a cross, but the word translated by 'cross' in the New Testament has a general meaning of a 'stake'. It was the custom of the Jews to expose on a stake the bodies of those they had stoned to death, as a warning to others. The SYNTHESIS of s[2+3] appears to be the practical approach one must take to apply a philosophy of mind that takes the feminine into consideration, and the assertiveness that the ego must develop to be able to engage the unconscious (or Anima) as an equal partner. This relates to my challenge that there is an insidious prejudice against right-brain thinking that hardly anyone is aware of. The reasoning in s[2] relates to finding meaning and patterns in the chaos, which reduces fear and anxiety as in s[3].

It would seem that the feminine principle makes its first appearance in Buddhism as the "Mother of Perfected Wisdom" and then later Tārā comes to be seen as an expression of the compassion of perfected wisdom…. Tārā as a tantric practice quickly spread from around the 7th century C.E. onwards, and remains an important part of Vajrayana Buddhism to this day. The practices themselves usually present Tārā as a tutelary deity (thug dam, yidam) which the practitioners sees as being a latent aspect of one's mind, or a manifestation in a visible form of a quality stemming from Buddha Jnana. : The function of the Yidam is one of the profound mysteries of the Vajrayana… Especially during the first years of practice the Yidam is of immense importance. Yidam is the Tibetan rendering of the Sanskrit word "Istadeva" — the in-dwelling deity; but, where the Hindus take the Istadeva for an actual deity who has been invited to dwell in the devotee's heart, the Yidams of Tantric Buddhism are in fact the emanations of the adepts own mind. Or are they? To some extent they seem to belong to that order of phenomena which in Jungian terms are called archetypes and are therefore the common property of the entire human race. Even among Tantric Buddhists, there may be a division of opinion as to how far the Yidams are the creations of individual minds. What is quite certain is that they are not independently existing gods and goddesses; and yet, paradoxically, there are many occasions when they must be so regarded.

The core issue here is the GENDER s[4] difference within the individual, which is something one never hears about. If one has the opposite sex as the inferior function (Anima/us) or as the feminine principle in the unconscious, then one should consider how to live with these differences. It also makes sense in terms of managing the relationship between left (masculine) and right (feminine) brain hemispheres.

This is interesting, it relates to the role of the feminine principle in the unconscious minds of men, specifically in respect of achievements. The way we measure accomplishments is the consequence of having ignored serendipity, and of discounting right-brain thinking within the creative process. We can extend the cliché that says behind every successful man is a woman, to include the feminine right-brain.

Recent news on aging was about a Spaniard of 114 yrs who it claims has benefited from this diet. This suggests we should be moving from the masculine 'hunting' to the feminine 'gathering' diet.

The symbol REVOLUTION s[11] is used to measure the quality and quantity of the right-action. This suggests that fathers have a responsibility to help turn things around by taking responsibility for children. One can read into this layers that include the inner child and the future of mankind. The inner child can also relate to the mute right-brain limbic system, which means one needs to first get this part healthy and working in harmony with the other parts.

This SYNTHESIS [01+02+03] is more difficult because it appears to describe Mx as a Grail device with which to help navigate unconscious relationships and patterns. It is in some ways like the Grail 'inscriptions'. As a gematria, it serves the higher-Self and not the ego; it has that number/geometry/music magic thing going for it like an innate musical language, like the Ur-song.

I can see that I'm going to have to start mapping the patterns in this series of downloads. This fourth symbol: MEDITATION [04] comes up frequently, as does the power of music; the emphasis is on using music while practicing mindfulness, to raise consciousness. This is something we know, but fail to do.

This download is getting interesting; we get conditioned as kids not to challenge the beliefs of others, especially religious beliefs. I went to a Catholic boarding school and found it interesting that information was hidden in plain sight of those trained in psychology and languages such as Latin; that it was the priest's job to suppress the truth, but to what degree this was unconscious I don't know. Back then, whenever one explored any of the mysteries, the doors slammed shut. The symbol SIRIUS [07] suggests an outcome, that our magical history will remain lost to us unless we do the Work.

The Greeks were reputed … to have considered music the highest art; and the Pythagoreans made harmony and number into an actual religion. … ubiquitous Hercules who is connected in so many ways with the Sirius complex. Graves adds: 'Thespius's fifty daughters - like the fifty Danaids, Pallantids, and Nereids, or the fifty maidens with whom the Celtic god Bran (Phorineus) lay in a single night. … Moon-goddess, to whom the lion-pelted sacred king had access once a year during erotic orgies … Eros … I assume that the cycle of fifty lunations which Graves mentions here is identical to his fifty month period of the reign of the sacred king, …the two-to-one ratio as a means of signifying the concept of the musical octave …

[+p325]: that Hecate (whose pet Cerberus was, and who was a form of Isis-Sirius and whose name literally means 'one-hundred') had three heads or forms, and that the boat of Sirius in ancient Egypt had three goddesses … the Dogon insist(ed) that there are three stars in the Sirius system. The point this symbol makes is that the Dogon knew of the three stars thousands of years before our modern astronomers were able to confirm it. There are things that the ancients knew that they couldn't have known unless there was or is a higher civilization we don't know about.

As to the condition one needs to overcome: It’s PASSIVE IMAGINATION [08]: Active imagination is a natural spontaneous process that must be developed as a meditation tool because one needs to make an effort to live according to its principles.

Q: What is the difference between how I use my imagination in day-dreaming and how it is used in the inner guide meditation?

A: Dr. Carl Jung answers this in his book, Psychological Types, written in 1921: … Active fantasies are the product of intuition; i.e. they are evoked by an attitude directed to the perception of unconscious contents, as a result of which the libido immediately invests all the elements emerging from the unconscious and, by association with parallel material, brings them into clear focus in visual form. … Active fantasy … owe their existence not so much to this unconscious process as to a conscious propensity to assimilate hints or fragments of lightly-toned elements, to elaborate them in clearly visual form. … positive participation of consciousness. … is one of the highest forms of psychic activity. The attitude to adopt is given by the symbol MIRROR [09] or ASTRONOMY which in my mind relates to looking inwards, where looking out is a projection of the same need to discover the secrets of life. It also suggests the need to be open to a multi-disciplinary approach to resolving the mysteries.

In Proclus' commentary on Plato's Timaeus, Richard Proctor read that the Great Pyramid was used as an observatory in the intermediate stage of its building … Proctor also speculated that by looking down the Descending Passage into a mirror - a polished copper screen, or even a pool of water - the exact transit times of particular stars could have been noted. The Descending Passage, it will be recalled, was aligned on Alpha Draconis, the polar star. The earth's northern axis is inclined toward this star, which would have appeared virtually stationary. This next symbol suggests a disturbing relationship between what one believes based on the books one looks to for answers, especially when it justifies destroying others we see as inferior. Consider the destructive power of the Jesuits; their ADAMANT BELIEF [10] is a symbol of right-action i.e. what not to do because blind faith delivers devastating consequences.

The 12th symbol highlights the importance of keeping a SPIRITUAL DIARY [12] of the transformation process. This blog is such a diary, and I experienced a synchronicity that placed Jung's Red Book in my hands in the same period, probably the only copy in the Eastern Cape.

One of the most important of all the disciplines, … is the keeping off a spiritual diary. … the Master is able to assess at any time … where the student is on the Path, … such as symbols, spiritual perception, intuitive knowledge, creative insights, synchronicities, mental telepathy, … Usually the initial contacts which a Master makes with a disciple are through visual impressions. The final symbol is about an outcome that relates to becoming a DISCIPLE [13] of a spiritual master. See how this links with the preceding DIARY symbol; Jung encouraged his patients to keep a diary, using his own Red Book as an example.

My take on this is that the Master is one's higher-Self that is linked to the universal mind and a collective database of knowledge. Genius can refer to the ability to tap into this database. Most geniuses may not want to talk about their support base, but history shows that most had inner characters that they communicated with. We called some of them Prophets and burned others, and generally ignored exploring this human potential.

The first symbol introduces LINGUISTICS [01], the scientific study of language, and probably relates to what we are using to decode this download. It refers to two types of mind that one needs, which may only relate to the R1 type of the NBI brain profile, the right-brain cortex.

To study Linguistics, in short, one has to be a bit if a schizophrenic. One has to have two kinds of mind: the analytic, jig-saw puzzle mind, on one hand, which will enable one to enjoy looking at a mass of language data and trying to discern patterns there; and the speculative, imaginative mind, which allows one to think about some of the more philosophical and theoretical issues in language. The surface of a fresh LIVER [02] can reflect images like a mirror. I went looking for an alchemical reference to mirror and found in

Jung's Psychology and Alchemy vol. 12 p110: an awareness of the two sides of man's personality is essential, of their respective aims and origins. These two aspects must never be separated through arrogance or cowardice. The "mirror" as an "indispensable instrument of navigation" doubtless refers to the intellect, which is able to think and is constantly persuading us to identify ourselves with its perceptions ("reflections"). … it is indeed man's indispensable guide on pathless seas. … There is an etching by Rembrandt of Faust before the magic mirror.

The third symbol confirms the association of liver-mirror-intellect by linking with the evolution of EGO-CONSCIOUSNESS [03] as the internal characteristic.

The synthesis is the potential of one's 'intellect' to serve as a navigation device, a device that came packaged with the evolution of ego-consciousness. Does this mean an awakened person is one who has learned to use his or her intellect?

Intelligence comes from the latin verb "intellegere", which means "to understand". By this rationale, intelligence (as understanding) is arguably different from being "smart" (able to adapt to one's environment), or being "clever" (able to creatively adapt). By the Latin definition, intelligence arguably has to do with a deeper understanding of the relationships of all things around us; and with a capability for metaphysical manipulation of such objects once such understanding is mastered.;

A second definition of intelligence comes from "Mainstream Science on Intelligence", which was signed by 52 intelligence researchers in 1994: a very general mental capability that, among other things, involves the ability to reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend complex ideas, learn quickly and learn from experience. It is not merely book learning, a narrow academic skill, or test-taking smarts. Rather, it reflects a broader and deeper capability for comprehending our surroundings—"catching on", "making sense" of things, or "figuring out" what to do.

The core issue to be studied here is how intellect can use SPONTANEOUS LANGUAGE [04] to navigate the unconscious mind in search of higher consciousness. This confirms our probability at [01], that this download relates to developing an alternative language of thought to get at the unconscious material before ego has a chance to filter it or "lie'. There is reference to getting at the truth because one can not lie during in this mode.

Language serves three purposes: (1) to indicate facts, (2) to express the state of the speaker, (3) to alter the state of the hearer. … But lies belong to the reflective use of language; when language is spontaneous it cannot lie, and cannot fail to express the state of the speaker. … I call language 'spontaneous' when there is no verbal intermediary between the external stimulus and the word or words … The immediate stimulus is again a sensation … when I say 'I am hot', I may not expect others to be hot , … But when I say 'there is a red flower' I expect others to see it too. … Thus instead of saying that a stimulus is 'external' we shall say that, in 'spontaneous' speech, the stimulus is a sensation. … I think that, in defining 'spontaneous' speech, we must give a subordinate place to the desire to affect the hearer. … The use of words is 'spontaneous' when the situation causing it can be defined without reference to the hearer. … such as might occur in solitude.

As a consequence of this evolutionary process and potential there is greater knowledge of the ways in which the unconscious works through us. We need to develop a healthier relationship with the unconscious DAIMON [05] instead of suppressing it, for one needs only to look to our history to see what suffering this brings. We must therefore learn a new language. Can we use GW Bush as an example of the failure of Americans to use their collective intellect? We know how South Africans elected Zuma and know what to expect.

Hitler … He spoke of the goddesses of fate, destiny, and history. Mein Kampf, setting forth his vision, opens with his version of the Platonic myth. … Hitler's call gave him the self-appointed right to be a sleep-walker outside the human world. One's responsibility is to learn to MEDITATE [06] and to understand what is meant by spiritual warrior [refer back to the previous download - Gilgamesh and Faith]. This is about learning to let go of the anger and greed that draws on deep reserves of energy in support of a demand for answers.

How did this whole process of mind and body all begin? There's a story of a man who was shot by a poison arrow. … wanted to remove the arrow and treat the wound. But the man said "No, you can't take it out, I have to know who shot the arrow and where it came from and from what kind of tree the shaft … Certainly that man would die before he could get an answer to all those questions. In the same way, the Buddha said that a lot of philosophical speculation … is like that man … We find ourselves in a certain predicament ; … one of being a mind-body that is full of anger and greed, ignorance and pain. The task is to take the arrow out, to free the mind … from suffering. Why does greed arise? When we see something pleasant, we want to hold on, not understanding the impermanence of it all. As soon as we become mindful, paying attention to what's happening, seeing how everything is arising and passing away, the grasping and greed decreases. There's nothing to hold onto. It's all bubbles. … state of non-attachment. … It's inspiring to become a warrior. There's no one else who can do it for us. … There's nothing mystical about it, it's so simple and direct and straightforward; but it takes some doing. That's what meditation is all about.

The following symbol ILLUMINATION [07] fits with patterns in [01] in the life-cycles that can be read in the biographies of mystics. The problem we have is that we are not taught to aspire to higher levels of consciousness i.e. we are not taught to live to our full potentials as human beings. The outcome of an awakened person is to become aware of true potential and the benchmark. Simply becoming aware of this is just the first step on the path, so take note of the symbols that follow, to prepare for the right-action one should take.

The symbol that relates to the conditioning one needs to overcome is quite complex: St Bernard - SION [08] - Black Virgin - Queen of the South - Sophia and it links to a previous download that dealt with institutions, which in this case refer to Cistercians as a multi-national corporation. The Cistercians not only worked as farmers but also as metallurgists and builders, their influence was pretty significant.

Taken from TheFreeDictionary: Some historians believe that the suppression of the English monasteries may have stamped out an industrial revolution. … In 1534 Henry had Parliament authorize Thomas Cromwell, to "visit" all the monasteries, ostensibly to make sure their members were instructed in the new rules for their supervision by the King instead of the Pope, but actually to inventory their assets. … This phase is termed the "Visitation of the Monasteries." In the summer of that year, the visitors started their work, and "preachers" and "railers" were sent to deliver sermons from the pulpits of the churches on three themes: [i] The monks and nuns in the monasteries were sinful "hypocrites" and "sorcerers" who were living lives of luxury and engaging in every kind of sin; [ii] Those monks and nuns were sponging off the working people and giving nothing back and, thus, were a serious drain on England's economy; [iii] If the King received all the property of the monasteries, he would never again need taxes from the people.

This leads me to believe that the Cistercians had got something right; that they hadn't suppressed the feminine while developing industrial skills. This may fit with the notion that we lost the Spirit in the industrial revolution that gave us our current industry, that has shown itself to be unsustainable.

The question now is what the symbol PARTNERSHIP [09] tells us about the attitude to adopt in terms of the relationship between ego-consciousness and the unconscious, between brain and mind, and between male and female.

Gebo … union, uniting or partnership in some form is at hand. … true partnership can only be achieved by separate and whole beings who retain their separateness even in unity and uniting. Remember to let the winds of Heaven dance between you. … It is particularly appropriate when entering into partnership with what some call your Higher Self, while others speak of the interplay between the conscious and unconscious in each of us. But most of all it is the case when seeking union with the Divine: God always enters into equal partnerships.

It does not surprise me to get FAITH [10] as the symbol for the right-action one needs to take. This came up in [12] of the previous download, and now needs to be understood in terms of its components.

The West has unfortunately not yet awakened to the fact that our appeal to idealism and reason and other desirable virtues, delivered with so mush enthusiasm, is mere sound and fury. It is a puff of wind swept away in the storm of religious faith, however twisted this faith may appear to us. Faith is a component of ENERGY HEALING [11], no surprise here. It also links acceptance of this form of healing to the potential to transcend materialism.

Spiritual healing is, however, such a universal occurrence, with countless mediumistic persons capable of performing these tasks, that we have to accept that Jesus was an exponent of the use of this power. … Healing as such must fundamentally be an alteration in the atomic and molecular structure of tissues. Again, it must have sufficient atoms of a healthy potential available to be able to generate from these biochemical and physiological material necessary for normal function. … Again we are forced to adjust our minds to the existence of a dimension of energy which transcends the world of our physical senses, and leave consciousness confined to its grossly material attachments. … We can, of course, refuse this adjustment and prefer the anchorage of materialism, and so perpetuate the stunted condition of humanity tuned to its animal nature.

The objective for having faith needs to be interpreted here as relating to the symbol EVOLUTION [12], which I suppose may relate to the influence of intellect on the speed of one's evolution to higher consciousness. The collective or universal mind has no problem with time, being outside of it, and so if we choose to take the wrong decisions it simply means we get to suffer longer than is necessary.

The last symbol PLATE [13] is about raising levels of awareness. There is always going to be another level and we must aspire to rise above what we have become in order to save this planet from our current level of consciousness. We are only now starting to become aware of the collective responsibility we have towards the environment, but this may be too late. I don't believe for one moment that the universal Mind cares how many millions or billions must die for the masses to become more aware.

Everyone who has experienced a change in their world view, who has survived the transition to another level of consciousness, understands what being alone means and how rare it is to find a kindred spirit.

The third symbol introduces FEAR as a motivating force within the Aloneness. The thing about personal growth is that transformation archetypes are activated when the time is ripe for change. There is a real fear of these forces that are then perceived as dark forms, a conditioned fear that is the result of having suppressed the feminine over hundreds of years. We are warned that one needs a stable ego-consciousness to face this fear.

The synthesis of these symbols relates to Fromm’s work on sadism and masochism, and Nietzsche’s ‘Will to Power’. In his book The Fear of Freedom, Fromm writes that both tendencies are the outcomes of one basic need, the inability to bear the isolation of one’s self. These tendencies are an attempt to escape an unbearable feeling of aloneness.

An awakening implies having to work at changing and healing the relationship that one wakes up in. The emergent self is under pressure to realize its freedom and must struggle to deal with anxiety, doubt, and feelings of powerlessness.

The core issue calls for an understanding of what is meant by REAL CONFLICT.

Real conflicts between two people, those which do not serve to cover up or project, but which are experienced on the deep level of inner reality to which they belong are not destructive. They lead to clarification … Love is possible only if two persons communicate with each other from the centre of their existence, hence if each of one of them experiences himself from the centre of his existence. Only in this ‘central experience’ is human reality, only here is aliveness … constant challenge; it is not a resting place …

I interpret this to mean that real conflict is what helps get both people up onto the next level, but I think this is only possible if both have the potential to self-actualize at the same time.

Ouch! It was as a prisoner that Frankl was able to gain this precious insight into human behaviour. But to understand how this relates to relationships one probably needs to believe in archetypal forces and the notion that superior decisions are called for. The problem we find here is that decisions need to be true to Self and not what society and family expect if one is to grow to the next level.

The predictable outcome is presented by the symbol FEAR and it suggests what I believe most people are intuitively aware of: a fear of change and its source, the unconscious.

… how people looked deeply into themselves, how many different fears came into the daylight. … the dam broke … how the Work and group support gave him the courage … There are overwhelming, draining, corroding fears caused by fantasies, projections of future events, dread of catastrophes … “the fear of the unknown.” … The part of a man that he is afraid to see in himself. … You can be afraid of being asked for more and greater efforts in the Work. … What is the opposite of fear? It is courage. It takes great courage to see all this in you - not to turn away, but face it.

I tend to see two threads: one relates to the personal and the other to the collective. The personal thread uses this symbol to motivate the freedom to choose to work for another outcome. In terms of the collective: this week is about the Copenhagen summit on climate change, so consider the subliminal effect of millions of interconnected minds focused on this threat.

The conditioning one must overcome is the fear of the unconscious as represented by the ANIMA.

Neumann writes: “The ambivalent female figure may guide the male or beguile him. Side by side with sublimation stands abasement … And how close ecstasy is to madness, enthusiasm to death, creativeness to psychosis, is shown by mythology, by the history of religions, and by the lives of innumerable great men for whom the depths has spelled doom.”

To see more specifically how these dynamics operate, we will examine in detail “Morella,”(Edgar Allan Poe) … apocryphal appearance emphasizes her ultimate origin in the narrator’s own psyche.

It follows that one needs to develop the right attitude to overcome the conditioning, and here we get to examine the symbol SEDUCTION.

… if we can make the imaginal leap from seduction as shameful to mutual seduction as a universal dynamic, then our idea of Jung’s notion of individuation and the self will change. … self as symbolized in the legendary Echenis fish … It is now the fish that draws out the fisherman! … Alchemists sought to replace the fish with an instrument … the “magnet of the wise,” can be taught as a body of practical knowledge, Jung writes, and he makes the connection between this secret knowledge … and the practice of psychotherapy. I think it is important to realize that Eros and seduction places one in a position to interact with unconscious projections that need to be recognized and integrated. The problem lies with the name and shame belief that most people have.

It all makes sense so far, but what does one make of the symbol BREATHING as the right-action to take here. It suggests practicing a breathing meditation to get control over one’s mind (fears) as preparation for whatever comes next.

Breathing is a very important part of almost every awareness-freeing tradition. Even the word “spirit” is part of “inspiration,” “expiration,” and “respiration.” … When a person learns how to watch his or her breathing without influencing it in the slightest, he or she will be very close to being able to do the same thing with the mind. … Work with the breathing can constitute the sole practice of meditation.

It makes sense if I interpret these special weapons as an extension of one’s will, and link this to the commitment shown by Gilgamesh.

The right-action is about preparation that must include the objective, which represented here by the symbol FAITH, which fits rather nicely. The resultant image is that of a spiritual warrior.

Our situation today is not unlike that of Abraham and of Paul and we must emulate their faith. We, too, have the promise. This time it is the promise of Jesus: ‘I will be with you all the days even to the end of the world.’ What precisely this promise entails we do not know. The final outcome brings these together in a relationship that mirrors what the Wisdom of the I Ching is about: the superior person’s decisions that shape and direct his will in harmony with Tao.

This blog records the flow of unconscious knowledge from a mysterious source we refer to as right-brain, supermind, higher-Self, and sometimes Sophia. The method involves downloading and interpreting weekly packets of information from the unconscious. The words in italics are the symbols we extract and interpret according to the Mx formula.

I must report on synchronicity: I found the I Ching translation by Richard Wilhelm, as was recommended in the second download [11Nov], in our local second-hand bookstore. It happens often that Mind directs one to find something to bring specific information into awareness. The I Ching is a book of divination that evolved into a book of wisdom in which the individual shares in shaping his fate, making it possible for the unconscious man to become active.

This blog is about communicating with the Anima/Animus. It answered a question I had regarding automatism and paraphrasing from citations i.e. to restate passage in other words to clarify meaning as a studying or teaching device.

The subject for this download is Deconstruction [01] from David Lodge, Modern Criticism and Theory, Longman (1988):

Deconstruction … interpretation … The previous text is both the ground of the new one and something the new poem must annihilate by incorporating it … so that it may perform its possible-impossible task of becoming its own ground. … in a perpetual re-expression … which forms itself again today in current criticism. … The relation is a triangle, not a polar opposition. There is always a third to whom the two are related … which they divide, consume, or exchange.

It calls attention to methods of textual criticism that involve discovering, recognizing, and understanding the underlying ideas that form the basis for thought and belief.

The download introduces Criticism [02] from Plato’s Theory of Knowledge:

So the defence ends. Socrates’ dialectical construction … the identification of perception with knowledge is finally rejected.

The Socratic method of instruction was by way of question and answer to elicit truths he considered to be implicitly known by all rational beings. We find threads to Sophia and the term Sophist, which is a synonym for one who teaches, especially by writing prose works that impart practical knowledge.

The mystery composer of this download reveals itself as the Anima [03] using E.A. Bennett’s book, What Jung Really Said (Abacus, 2001):

“femme inspiratrice” … separate the outward relationship from the inward creative fecundity … Music is a heavenly art … she may serve as muse, inspiring his artistic or spiritual dev, and putting him in touch with correct inner values and hidden depths of his personality. (Also as the “Soror Mystica” or female alchemist.)

The synthesis of the first three symbols is the critical interpretation of unconscious knowledge from the Anima using deconstruction methods.

Anima [ http://www.nyaap.org/index.php/id/7/subid/44 ]: The inner feminine side of a man. The anima is both a personal complex and an archetypal image of woman in the male psyche. … The anima is personified in dreams by images of women ranging from seductress to spiritual guide. It is associated with the Eros principle; hence a man's anima development is reflected in how he relates to women. Within his own psyche, the anima functions as his soul, influencing his ideas, attitudes and emotions. … One way for a man to become familiar with the nature of his anima is through the method of active imagination. This is done by personifying her as an autonomous personality, asking her questions and attending to the response.

The Deconstructive Phase [ http://www.socraticmethod.net/ ]: The purpose of the first phase of the Classic Socratic Method is that it prepares people to think. The only people who are incapable of thinking about an issue are those who are already convinced they have “the” understanding of an issue. There are no “Socratic teachings”, but there is a Socratic goal. … This is its value.

The download gave us the symbol Interpreting [04] from R. Blum’s The Book of Runes (1982):

The seed of God is in us … seeds grow … and God seeds into God. Meister Eckhart. … In approaching an ancient mystery surrender is required. … It remains for us to honour our own natures and trust the Knowing Self within … a single question … simple prayer … show me what I need to know for my life now.

It tells us to let the unconscious have free rein to answer questions because one must first get hold of the unconscious material before applying a critical interpretation. The next symbol is that of the seal woman (anima) [05] from CP Estes’ book Women Who Run With Wolves (1992):

she wanted to stay with her child … but something called her, something older than she … older than time. She dove into the sea … seal woman and her child … yet it came time to return the boy to land. … I am always with you. … She is known as Tanqigcaq, the bright one, the holy one … It is said that humans are not truly animated until the soul gives birth to the spirit, tenders and nurses it, filling it up with strength.

This appears to fit Jungian theory that the anima will return to the unconscious when it is properly integrated. The download makes one aware of one’s responsibility with the symbol of reaction [06] H.G. Barnett (1953) writes in Innovation:

Rossman’s study of war and invention reveals the degree of interrelationship between these variables. … There are individual and group reactions to emergencies and security threats. … Individuals with narrow ranges of experience and little training in objective thinking have only a limited number of responses to any given situation at their command. Their restricted frame of reference makes them more susceptible to first impressions and to suggestions … unable to set the impression or the suggestions in a realistic context. … The naïve and the uneducated therefore characteristically respond to crises in unrealistic ways.

This relates to the use of oracles. One needs to develop the right state of mind to receive and interpret unconscious material. This may also relate to humanity’s reaction to the unfolding threat of global warming and how we will be looking to try restoring the balance. Capitalism however, with its focus on driving materialism, has corrupted our symbolic spiritual life. Marketing gurus treat the unconscious as a frontier from which to exploit the naïve masses. We are then given the symbol Implicit association [07] from G. Zaltman, How Customers Think (2003):

… measures the relative association of two sets of concepts in consumer’s minds … many psychologists argue that implicit attitudes ... not only reflect consumer’s real attitudes, but also more accurately predict their actual behaviour. Consumers may sincerely believe their own stated thoughts, but they may not consciously understand the opposing forces that drive their behaviour.

Humans are predictable, no surprise there. But add to this the fact that our brains are probability estimating machines linked to a web of interconnected minds (like our internet), and add the collective unconscious (which is another place altogether), and then think of why millions die in wars etc. The unconscious helps us build weapons, helps us kill each other, if that is what we want, or what it wants. The conditioning that we need to overcome is covered by the symbol renunciation [08] which in W. Johnston’s The Inner Eye (1981), we are advised to

Renounce all clinging and craving! … Once liberated from self-centered craving one gets everything back and can cry with St John of the Cross: Now that I least desire them I have them all without desire … the journey is the answer to a call and is made under the sweet influence of grace and the gentle guidance of the Spirit.

People need to think about this in terms of the current financial crisis. Capitalism is a greed based ideology that drives consumerism, and it falls to the individual to awaken to what the term unsustainable means. The download calls for a change in attitude if one is to try doing the right thing. We need a vision [09] to work towards. B.K.S. Iyengar (1993) gives us his interpretation of the sutras:

develop emotional stability, the prerequisite of spiritual realization. … A yogi can develop a balanced head and a poised heart, and from his visions of … (great teachers) he may obtain guidance and inspiration … Through the faculty of spiritual perception the yogi becomes the knower of all knowledge. … impulsive nature is transformed into intuitive thought.

The sutra III.33 is a synthesis of "head, light, perfected beings, vision" that I take to relate to the example set by enlightened people and the vision one needs when striving for higher consciousness.

The right-action is more cryptic, it is the symbol look [10] from Goethe’s Faust:

Helena: the ancient night … The royal House … A veiled and giant woman seated … not like me who sleeps, but one deep-sunk in thought. … Thalamos adorned … near the treasure-room: But suddenly … the wondrous figure sprang, barring my way … showed herself … There look, yourselves! She even ventures forth to light! Here we are masters, till the lord and king shall come.

Or is it? ‘There, look for yourselves!’ Does this refer to higher consciousness (royal), the thalamus (information), pituitary (treasure), anima (veiled), ego consciousness (light, masters), and higher consciousness (king)? The quality of the relationship with the anima [11] is covered by E.A. Bennett in What Jung Really Said (2001):

The anima is an autonomous complex and is not set in motion by the conscious intentions of man. It just ‘happens’ that he projects his anima, that is his image and ideals of womanhood, on a particular woman. As the friendship develops her other qualities (and his) will become apparent. Consequently ’falling-in-love’ whatever meaning we attach to this indefinite state of affairs - may well be a compound of projection and conscious appreciation of the qualities of the other person. … paintings … usually the eyes are veiled.

The quality of anima experiences depends on becoming aware of one’s own projections. The download tells us to focus on an objective, the symbol is orientation [12] which E. Fromm, The Sane Society (1955) explains:

… is to develop a productive orientation … The fact of suffering, whether it is conscious or unconscious, resulting from the failure of normal development, produces a dynamic striving to overcome the suffering, that is, for change in the direction of health. … repression … refers to the irrational passions, to the repressed feelings of aloneness and futility, and to the longing for love and productivity, which is also repressed. … next step … changing a practice of life which was built on the basis of the neurotic structure. And which reproduces it constantly.

I interpret this as meaning that the objective is to develop a productive orientation towards the anima. The final outcome of this download is from the symbol body-mind [13] out of J. Levey’s book Simple Meditation & Relaxation (1999):

experience your body as hollow, open, and filled with clear space. … an inner openness within which feelings and sensations can freely come and go. … the integration and optimization of neuromuscular, autonomic, and central nervous system functions, as well as to reduce pain and enhance endurance and overall mind-body coordination.

Work with the anima, try integrated it. Get help, use alternative energy healing systems like BodyTalk.

[02] - Spiritual Revolution

[1] The subject matter relates to Karl Marx and a revolt against the left-brain bias in today’s world. It refers to Marx’s preference for authentic isolation and his rejection of brotherhood, which gave him the space to do his critical thinking. To this I add a reference to brotherhood found in the last symbol: the Age of Aquarius stands for brotherhood, union and sharing of knowledge with all mankind. Our technology as a projection of our inner resources is now making this possible.

[2] We read that scientists acknowledge that sensory inputs are mysteriously filtered or supplemented, depending partly on past experience, to provide consciousness with a reliable guide to behaviour. But we can add to this the concept of a universal Mind that extends past experience to include collective memory.

[3] Christian teachings are silent on the issue of psychic phenomena because conditioning over thousands of years has suppressed investigation into innate psychic faculties. Resurrection for example actually means life in the spiritual body after the death of the physical, suggesting that the Church manipulated this belief for greater power over the masses.

The synthesis of the these points [2+3] suggests the need to acknowledge the mysterious ‘something’ that filters inputs, that controls what consciousness becomes aware of. This relates to an awakening (a revolt) against the suppression of one's spiritual life, and to the discovery of the spirit body following death of ego (resurrection), and to the development of one's true potential by including psycho-perceptive skills such as ESP.

The core issue relates to PERCEPTION as an unconscious interpretation of sensory data that the higher-Self controls. Vision for example is a critical faculty that appears capable of making decisions and of filtering information on apparently on aesthetic grounds. This means that one adopts a perceptual attitude to try comprehending what has already being decided. For Blake perception needs imagination to develop into an active faculty to see through the veils of illusion. The suppression of the spirit and the unconscious has given us lower standard to measure life against, what we refer to as the norm or normal. J.C. Pearce wrote that a developed intelligence is a developed creativity, one that can interact with a manifest order and lift chaos into order. And that we lack creative vision because that is the standard we set.

As a consequence we need to look into the construction of the ancient oracle known as the I Ching. Humanity has had the tools to navigate life, such as can be found in the nuclear hexagrams, but which were suppressed in the West. A change in perception: a mind-shift from believing ego-consciousness to be in control can set one on the path to developing an effective navigation tool for life.

According to E. Polakow, we have a responsibility to be aware of the position of one's consciousness in relationship to one's Soular Sun (inner Self) and Source (Divinity), and then learn to navigate higher consciousness.

Jung helped by giving the West greater insight into the concept of synchronicity and also gave the I Ching respectability in the West. In R. Temple's book (Netherworld, quoting Ritsema and Karcher) we read that the I Ching allows one to interact with the energy clusters or complexes of the psyche, and that changing one's relation to these forces can change what will happen to you because it makes conscious the goal of the situation in which you find yourself, providing information necessary to make choices.

This download suggests using sorrow to reshape thoughts to overcome the conditioning blocking spirit and imagination (creative thinking), to extract energy and strength from a turbulent mind, and to resist an oppressing force. Being stuck in a conditioned state of illusion is a painful indication of not trusting one's imagination. This is a test to use one's mind to gather ideas and materials to develop a new strategy to liberate oneself.

Having the right attitude to drive the revolution is to accept as W. van Dusen put it, that "the death of ego is the birth of everything else. Can I speak a language not taught me, a rich language, faithfully showing myself even when I am relatively lost and ignorant? … one has to let go of a conventional picture of the self to permit this effortless, wiser one to stand forth." He introduced Emanuel Swedenborg as someone who in the 1700's did amazing work on hypnogogic material and the language of representations (images), which is what this project is all about i.e. to develop a language that will allow us to work with one’s higher Self.

The right action is to individuate. One mechanism of escape is to identify the masochistic tendencies that make one give up the independence of one’s own individual self, and to fuse one’s self with somebody or something outside oneself in order to get the strength that the individual self is lacking. Fromm wrote that one seeks out secondary bonds as a substitute for the primary bonds which have been lost, in order to escape from unbearable aloneness. What is interesting for us here is that the other side of masochism is the attempt to become part of a bigger and more powerful whole outside of oneself that may be driven by a psychic compulsion.

Weighted action? Heschel asked why the light of God was given in the form of language, and answered that this question betrays the sin of our age: to treat lightly the ether which carries the light-waves of the spirit. The level of commitment is therefore high, which is what anyone on The Great Path will tell you.

The objective of learning a language of representation or symbols is to challenge the illusion of subjective ethical judgment. In philosophy one calls the person making an ethical judgment the subject, and conduct to which the judgment refers the object. The subject experiences certain feelings or entertains certain opinions as judgments. It follows that there are no differences of opinions because both relate to feelings and can be correct; and that a sound ethical judgment is therefore meaningless. Think of the masses under tribal and societal judgments that control them, and of the small percentage needing to break free to individuate.

The final outcome for this download relates to the perfect number seven. D.F. Hook gave the following representation: stillness, meditation and prayer. It symbolizes a barrier or gateway for it represents the end of life. … In the Tarot the Chariot stands for liberation. In Numerology it is the number of mysticism, being a point of contact between lower and higher Self. Also 4 inverted is matter transformed. Sixteen is the first compound number of seven which in Tarot is the Struck Tower. Karma: Man has to strive to build his Tower, which must be perfect, or it will collapse. A warning?

Introduction: For the Gnostic Christians, the Sophia was a central element in their cosmological understanding of the Universe. A Feminine figure, analogous to the human soul but also simultaneously one of the Feminine aspects of God and the Bride of Christ, she is considered to have fallen from grace in some way, in so doing creating or helping to create the material world. For the Gnostics, the drama of the redemption of the Sophia through Christ or the Logos is the central drama of the universe. The Sophia resides in all of us as the Divine Spark. According to the Pistis Sophia, Christ is sent from the Godhead in order to bring Sophia back into the fullness of Pleroma following her repentance. In Gnostic tradition, the term Sophia (Σoφíα, Greek for "wisdom") refers to the final and lowest emanation of God.

[1] The subject matter for this blog is from the scriptures, in which the term ‘rather than’ relates to a choice between X on the one hand and being afflicted; judgmental; ignorant; a door-keeper; desiring only gold and silver. This suggests a choice commonly regarded as a spiritual calling.

[2] What is described as a soul has many and even complex definitions, all of which are impossible to prove. But even though there is no agreement on the existence of a soul we still need to strive to find a method to communicate with the unconscious mind/Mind. We have a duty to make a trial of it and try demystifying it.

[3] Accelerated learning systems such as Lozanov’s suggestopedia use Baroque music at 64 beats p/min together with 4 sec data chunks and 4 sec pauses with 7-8 words in different combinations. We know that it involves brain waves and that meditation helps control the body-mind relationship (brain-Mind). Music is another internal factor with complex quantum components that we need to explore.

[2+3]: The synthesis suggests a developing a method around discoveries in super-learning potentials. The challenge for us specifically is to develop this Alternative Language of Thought (Mx) as a learning system and to prove it capable of harnessing latent genius faculties.

We need to ask how the symbol resurrection relates to a super-learning system as a core issue? The number three is somewhat significant: In the Tree of Life the top three sephirot relate to higher knowledge and understanding that requires a special formula or state of mind to get the wisdom necessary to cross the language barrier into higher consciousness. Three is Binah which stands for understanding and beauty; In the I Ching the three represents intuition; In Tarot it is the Empress who symbolizes the gateway of birth and death. In Christianity their eyes were prevented from seeing Christ and they were slow to believe the prophets. Resurrection also suggests we take the spirit body more seriously as a link to higher consciousness and Mind, and consider the implications to trying to teach the brain something that the Mind already knows.

In the West we mistakenly believe that the ego is in charge and grudgingly accept that Fate will play a hand. Although humans have potential to use another language of thought to think at higher level of consciousness it is also clear that this depends one’s spiritual gravity. As far as the masses are concerned, Fate directs a prolonged nightmare of death such as war, and suffering, from which only a small percentage of the masses appear capable of awakening to the falsity of their society’s beliefs and values.

We have a responsibility to develop creative minds i.e. to strive to understand what the potential of mind/Mind is. In terms of the method: knowing that a job is made for one requires faith in a creative mind. The challenge is to eliminate negative thinking.

It is a normal outcome to drift to the techniques the East developed to work with the subtle body, such as with the various breathing meditations. Jung warned that Westerners think differently and should therefore develop complimentary methods.

The advice to overcome negative conditioning is to work with the upper 3 partzufim of the Tree of Life. I believe we need to look at the sacred marriage between Chokhmah and Binah in terms of whole-brain thinking, to get the two minds working together in harmony and in a way that opens a gateway through which the mysterious waters of the feminine can be safely tapped as Sophia’s wisdom.

Chokhmah is associated in the soul with the power of intuitive insight, flashing lightning-like across consciousness. The partzuf of Abba Ila'ah is associated with the power to spontaneously extract such insight from the superconscious realm, whereas the partzuf of Yisrael Saba is associated with the power to subsequently direct it into consciousness. The "wisdom" of Chokhmah also implies the ability to look deeply at some aspect of reality and abstract its conceptual essence till one succeeds in uncovering its underlying axiomatic truth. These seeds of truth can then be conveyed to the companion power of Binah for the sake of intellectual analysis and development. Chokmah is situated at the top of the right column, and corresponds to the right hemisphere of the brain. There are several aspects of Chokhmah: The word Chokhmah itself may be broken into two words -- koach ("potential") and ma ("what is"). Thus, Chokhmah means "the potential of what is," or, "the potential to be."

Binah, meaning "Understanding" is the second intellectual Sephirah on the tree of life. … it may be alternatively related to the "left eye", "left hemisphere" of "the brain" or the "heart." Binah is often defined as the ability to understand one thing from within another. In Western occultism, Binah is seen to take the raw force of Chokhmah, and to channel it into the various forms of creation. For example, in a car, you have the fuel and an engine. While Chokmah is the fuel, pure energy, Binah is the engine, pure inert mechanism. Either one without the other is useless.

Ze'ir Anpin meaning "small countenance", is an important term in Kabbalah. Ze'ir Anpin is the partzuf of the midot, corresponding to the emotive faculties of the soul.
